Celebrating Women’s History Month: Amplifying Women’s Voices at Pavion Part 2

Pavion continues to celebrate Women’s History Month with the second part of a special podcast series. Hosted by Michelle Dawn Mooney, the series showcases inspiring stories of resilience and change from women within Pavion.

Meet the Women of Influence at Pavion
In the series’ second episode, three female employees from Pavion—Pamela Spencer, Michelle Strong, and Susan Post—discuss their personal journeys, the women who inspired them, and the lessons we can learn from influential women’s achievements.

Bridging History and Today
All three guests agree that women have made contributions in countless areas that still inspire change today.—from fulfilling critical roles in science and business to making our world a better place. Pushing their personal lives aside, they focused on understanding the needs of our world and achieved the goals they set for themselves.

Learning from Influential Women
Each guest drew inspiration from different influential women: a seventh-grade teacher who opened new worlds, the female mathematician who broke gender and race barriers at NASA, and the unsung woman behind the Brooklyn Bridge’s construction. Despite significant challenges and limited recognition, these women found ways to command attention, gain respect, and open doors for future generations.

Overcoming Obstacles
The guests stress the importance of acknowledging and overcoming obstacles as a part of life’s journey. They shared their experiences of being the only woman in the room and exhorted listeners to leverage the knowledge gained from these experiences. The spirit of perseverance shown by women throughout history continues to inspire them.

Turning Barriers into Opportunities for Change
All guests agree that women have an equal role in contributing to their fields. From building bridges to leading teams, they spoke about their experiences in male-dominated fields and the unique opportunities to initiate change. They encouraged women to take advantage of every opportunity, especially when these come cloaked as challenges.

Supporting Women in Becoming Influential Leaders
The episode wrapped with suggestions for individuals and societies to support women in becoming influential leaders. The speakers stressed the importance of inclusiveness, mentorship, and collaboration. They urged leaders to give space to all voices at the table and affirmed the importance of different points of view.

Their closing message was clear: This is an ongoing process. These women made it clear that celebrating women’s achievements should happen every day, not just during Women’s History Month. Being a woman, a leader, or a pioneer is not a one-time event—it’s a continuous journey of overcoming challenges, creating change, and inspiring the ones who come after us.

Stay tuned for the final episode in Pavion’s special Women’s History Month podcast series for more empowering stories from women driving change within Pavion and beyond
